Hello LOVES!
Long time no see MINA!
How is everyone doing? I hope all is well! I hope you guys are enjoying your winter, we are sort of enjoying our winter weather as much as possible because the winter is no where near 50 degrees like the states. Its hot and some time humid, but to me its not as bad as other are complaining. I’m already used to the weather and environment, I just really miss my family especially my baby brother. I miss my mommy’s cooking. Many says that I’m never tired of Thai food, well sorry to break your heart, but I’m kind of tired of Thai food.
I miss homemade cooking that is not stirred fried over rice or noodles. I miss eating lots of vegetables with my meals. Yes this is the land of crops, but we don’t have a kitchen so theirs not point in buy vegetables that we can’t cook. Oh, I went to all of my classes last week, it was interesting. Guess what is my Thai name in my Thai Language class is? Have you guess it yet? It is very awesome and unique. Its MI-NA! Haha. I knew he was going to say that. He had two names for me Mina or Manee which I knew that was coming too because my mom calls me Manee. What a quinky dink!
Mina in Thai means March (Mi-na-kom) and Manee means gem stones. OH and I must say cute guys (some) in class.
Tomorrow for my Art Appreciation class we have to go to an art studio show in Krung Thep (Bangkok). I am excited for that because I never really went to a full on art show. My professor (which in Thai we call her Ajarn and it means teacher/professor) is actually one of the artist at the studio Ajarn Prinda and I’m interest to see what she has in store for us. She said that its going to be a mixture of different kind of art so can’t wait. After that we are going to Chiang Mai which is the northern part of Thailand.
Anyways, tonight I will be posting about my trip to Bangkok and to Ayutthaya. I thought it was amazing and very enjoyable to see and learn. One thing that I really want to point out that I didn’t like too much from others. I didn’t like the fact people were complaining so much about certain clothing that they can wear into the mansion, temple, or to the Grand Palace. In my opinion, I believe that since this is has been a rule by the majesty for hundreds of years now we should follow the rules. We went to Vimanmek Mansion, this was built by His Majesty King Rama V. This mansion has many photographs and many different art works from all around the world. He travelled to many places and bring the look of different customs to his mansion. He was in love with the european style so he evolve it with the mixture of Thai and European look to his mansion. We weren’t allow to take pictures because many things are very valuable of the King.
I will cut it short so here are the pictures.
